Ginger, turmeric and black pepper — the morning shot
Sharp enough to make you stand up straight. Made in a batch on Sunday, drunk in a mouthful all week.

The pepper and the oil are not for flavour. Curcumin — the yellow compound in turmeric — is poorly absorbed on its own; piperine from black pepper and a little fat both measurably improve how much of it your body actually takes up. It is one of the few kitchen folk-rules that holds up.
